EHF

EHF, Elektronisk Handelsformat, is Norway’s set of electronic business-document specifications used for structured exchanges such as invoices, credit notes, orders, and catalogues. DFØ manages EHF, and current invoice flows are exchanged through the Peppol network. An EHF invoice must meet the applicable EHF or Peppol rules and recipient capability; an ordinary PDF or generic XML file is not enough.

Why this matters when you invoice

EHF combines structured document requirements with a receiving and exchange context. A file that looks like XML is not enough: the applicable rules, identifiers and recipient capability determine whether the document fits the intended flow.

Where it appears

EHF is common in Norwegian public-sector electronic invoicing and procurement workflows and can also be relevant to business recipients using compatible Peppol services.

Worked example

Check format readiness and recipient capability separately

A supplier needs to invoice a Norwegian public recipient. The supplier reviews the invoice data against the EHF readiness guidance and checks that the recipient can receive the required structured document. A passing preflight still does not replace formal profile validation or network delivery.

Common mistakes

  • Calling an emailed PDF an EHF invoice.
  • Assuming any UBL XML file automatically satisfies EHF/Peppol rules.
  • Ignoring recipient identifiers and published receiving capability.

Run the Norway EHF readiness check

Use the focused checker to review practical EHF invoice readiness before the separate validation and delivery steps.

InvoiceCraftly's Norway EHF checker is a readiness aid; it does not certify EHF/Peppol compliance or send the invoice through the network.
