Organisationsnummer
A Swedish organisationsnummer is a unique identity designation for legal persons such as companies and associations. Bolagsverket explains that the registering authority assigns the number and that it can be used to find the organisation in public company information services. It identifies the organisation; it does not by itself establish VAT registration, F-tax approval, bank payment details, or e-invoice capability.
Why this matters when you invoice
The organisationsnummer identifies the Swedish entity named on the invoice. Keeping it distinct from tax and payment statuses helps avoid treating one identifier as evidence for several unrelated fields.
Where it appears
It is used in company identification and public company searches. F-tax wording, VAT information, Bankgiro details and e-invoice delivery can all appear near it on an invoice while remaining separate concepts.
Review the company before adding tax and payment fields
A consultant searches the customer's organisationsnummer and checks the public company details. The consultant then handles any F-tax wording, VAT fields and payment instructions independently rather than assuming those statuses from the organisation number.
Common mistakes
- Using the organisation number as proof of F-tax approval.
- Confusing the identifier with a VAT number or Bankgiro number.
- Assuming the company automatically accepts Peppol invoices.
